Running Aces Launches Radio Ads Promoting Racinos to Solve Deficit

Running Aces Harness Park launched a statewide radio campaign Monday asking lawmakers to consider racinos as a way to end the government shutdown.

According to Running Aces, the ads promote Govenor Mark Dayton and Speaker Kurt Zellers willingness to consider gaming, including racinos, as a way to balance the state budget.

Red Cross Says Blood Donations at Critically Low Levels

Blood donations are typically down at this time of year--donors are busy or traveling and school's out of session.

But American Red Cross officials say donations in May and June were at the lowest level the nonprofit has seen in more than 12 years.

Lakeville Man Dies in Small Plane Crash in Goodhue County

An ultra-light plane crashed in Goodhue County, killing a man.

The Post-Bulletin reports a Lakeville man was the only person aboard when it went down at 3:38 a.m. Saturday in Cherry Grove Township, southwest of Wanamingo. He died at the scene.

The Goodhue County Sheriff's Office, the Federal Aviation Administration and others are investigating.
